Man airlifted to hospital after motorcycle crash

Two Oshawa males were seriously injured after being involved in a single motor vehicle collision in Oshawa Monday evening, Durham police said.

On July 6 at about 7:15 pm, members of Central West Division were called to a motorcycle collision near the intersection of Britannia Avenue West and Kentucky Derby Way in Oshawa. Witnesses called 911 after a motorcycle with two occupants lost control and left the roadway. The two riders were ejected from the motorcycle and sustained serious injuries, said a police statement.

The driver, a 21-year-old Oshawa male was air-lifted to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious life-threatening injuries. His passenger, a 23-year-old Oshawa male who was not wearing a helmet, was rushed to a trauma centre with serious injuries. Both males remain in hospital with serious injuries in stable condition, it added.

Members of the DRPS Traffic Services Branch, Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
