Pistol-whipping robber flees with store cash

Durham Police investigators are asking the public to help identify a suspect(s) who robbed a convenience store in Whitby on Saturday morning.

On January 25 at 4:45 am, a lone male with his face covered entered the Circle K Convenience on Brock Street North in Whitby. The suspect attempted to tie up the lone attendant and when he was unsuccessful, the suspect pistol whipped the victim. The suspect stole a quantity of cash and cigarettes before fleeing on foot, police said.

K-9 attended and searched the area with negative results. The suspect may have left in a vehicle, they added.

The victim suffered minor injuries.

The only description given was that the male was wearing all black clothing including a balaclava.
