Police find driver zipping along at double the limit

Central West Division officers in Whitby, found a driver zipping  along at more than double the speed limit.

“Officers were conducting proactive patrol in south Whitby, when they observed a vehicle traveling at 123kmh in a posted 60kmh hour zone, said a police alert on Saturday.

The driver (top image) was charged with stunt driving and speeding.

They were also given a 14-day vehicle impound as well as a 30-day driver’s license suspension.

Stop Sign Enforcement

As the result of a community complaint on February 20, officers were in the area of Meadowglade Road and Cale Avenue in Courtice in the Municipality of Clarington, doing stop sign enforcement.

Police requested the community to always come to a complete stop, and proceed when it is safe to do so while driving.

 

Suspended Fails Complete Stop

In another incident on the same day, around 2:43 pm, a driver failed to stop properly.

The stop took place at Regional Highway 2 and Regional Road 18 in Newtownville in Clarington

The driver failed to stop at an enhanced larger stop sign. Further investigation revealed that he was driving while under suspension.

He was fined $110 and got 3 demerit points for failing to stop. For his first offense for driving while under suspension he received a $1000 fine (image below).
