Two of $30,000+ eyewear thieves identified + shots fired

Durham police are searching for two wanted females and are attempting to identify a third after more than $30,000 of sunglasses were stolen from a business at Pickering City Centre.

On September 29 at about 8:20 pm, three females entered the Lenscrafters store located in the Shops at Pickering City Centre at 1355 Kingston Road. The three suspects stole more than 60 pairs of designer sunglasses before fleeing the store.

Through investigation, members of the West Division Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) were able to identify two suspects. On Sunday, October 26, the West Division CIB team executed a search warrant at a residence in the area of Dundas Street West and Scarlett Road in Toronto.  Over $25,000 of the stolen property was located, police said.

Two of the suspects have been identified and are wanted by police.

One female suspect, age 33 is from Toronto (Name and further details available at www.drps.ca), another aged 17-year-old female is from Mississauga (name withheld), and the third is still unidentified.

Investigators are advising the suspects to contact counsel and turn themselves into police.   Anyone who is found to be assisting the suspects to evade police is guilty of an offence under the Criminal Code of Canada and will be prosecuted to the full extent, police said.

Multiple Shots Fired at Residence in Pickering

Police are seeking information after shots were fired at a residence in Pickering.

On October 1 at about 1:10 pm, members of West Division responded to an armed person call in the area of Frontier Court and Chantilly Road.  Officers arrived on scene and located multiple bullet holes in a residence. Further investigation revealed the shooting occurred overnight.

The residents were home at the time of the shooting, however no physical injuries were reported.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police are appealing to any witnesses or anyone who may have video footage, including home surveillance or dashcam between the hours of 1 am, to 2:30 am, on October 1, to please contact police.
