Road restrictions across Durham from today

Durham municipalities have announced several road closures and lane restrictions across the region, most of which start from today, May 4.

Road restrictions cover Pickering, Oshawa, Clarington, Scugog and Uxbridge.

Oshawa

Lane Restrictions on King Street East between Simcoe Street and Mary Street.

  • Date: Monday, May 4 to June 5
  • Details: The city will be completing work on the north sidewalk, streetscape elements and road works

Road Closure Alexandra Park – closure of parking lot and trail.

  • Where: Alexandra Park parking lot and Midland Ave
  • Date: Monday, May 4 to June 6
  • Details: Alexandra Park parking lot and Midland Ave will be closed at Buckingham Ave as well as the asphalt trail from Midland Ave to Hospital Ct. to complete reconstruction. Contract O19-13.

Road Closure on Bagot Street between Centre Street and Queen Street.

  • Where: Bagot Street between Centre Street and Queen Street will be closed to through traffic. Road closure and detour signs will be set per Ontario Traffic Manual Book 7 – Temporary Conditions.
  • When: May 4, 2020 to May 15
  • Why: To facilitate repairs to water service into McLaughlin library.

Road closure on Adelaide Avenue East (Regional Road 58) in Oshawa

  • When: May 11 until October 1
  • Where: Adelaide Avenue East will be closed to through traffic from Ritson Road North (Regional Road 16) to Wilson Road North (Regional Road 35).
  • Why: To safely install a new watermain.

Champlain Avenue and Thornton Road South in Whitby and Oshawa

The Regional Municipality of Durham announced lane restrictions on Stellar Drive (Regional Road 25), Champlain Avenue (Regional Road 25A) and Thornton Road South (Regional Road 52) in the Town of Whitby and the City of Oshawa.

  • WhenThe project will be separated into three stages: Stellar Drive boulevard and restoration work is ongoing; Champlain Avenue road reconstruction is anticipated to start the week of May 4; Thornton Road South reconstruction is expected to begin in August. Work is expected to be completed by late October 2020. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
  • WhereThe first stage of the project will take place on Stellar Drive (Regional Road 26), from Thickson Road to Thornton Road South. The second stage will take place on Champlain Avenue from Stellar Drive to Thornton Road South. The third stage will take place on Thornton Road South from Champlain Avenue to 680 metres north of Champlain Avenue. Lane restrictions will be required through each phase of construction.
  • WhyRoad reconstruction and urbanization.

Pickering and Whitby

Lane Restrictions on Lake Ridge Road (Regional Road 23) in Pickering and Whitby

  • When: May 4 until July 2020. Unfavourable weather conditions may affect the schedule.
  • Where: Lake Ridge Road (Regional Road 23) from just north of Highway 407 to Myrtle Road (Regional Road 5).
  • Why: Road rehabilitation.

Scugog

Lane restrictions on Reach Street (Regional Road 8) in Scugog

  • When: May 4 to ­­­­May 8
  • Where: Reach Street from Byron Street to 100 m west of Byron Street, in Scugog
  • Why: To safely install a culvert

Uxbridge

Road restrictions on Brock Street East and Nelkydd Lane in Uxbridge

  • When: May 4 to ­­­­29. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
  • Where: Lane restrictions will take place on Brock Street East between 4th Avenue and Nelkydd Lane. Nelkydd Lane will be closed between Planks Lane and Brock Street East, in Uxbridge.
  • Why: To safely install a watermain, sanitary and storm sewer.

Bowmanville

Scugog Street will close at the CP rail crossing for signal work tentatively on May 7 from 9 am until 1 pm.

Detours available via local alternate roads.

Second Street and Veterans Avenue to close for road reconstruction

Second Street, from Prospect Street to Lambs Lane, beginning May 11 will close until approximately June 20

Detours will be available via alternate local roads.
