Search for woman’s attacker intensifies – in pix

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) has intensified its search for the male suspect who attacked a Whitby woman jogger at night and left her near a creek with life threatening injuries.

She was found the next morning and taken to hospital, where she was last reported as still in critical condition.

“Our officers continue to search the area of Taunton and Anderson in Whitby and canvass properties following the assault of a 50-year-old Whitby woman last week,” said a DRPS tweet yesterday.

Apart from canvassing the neighbourhood, police officers have also been searching the area of the incident for possible evidence.

“Officers from our Public Safety Unit assisting with the search for evidence in connection with the ongoing assault investigation of a 50-year-old woman in Whitby last week. Officers will be visible in the area checking waterways and dense brush,” said another DRPS tweet.

The police have released a video of a ‘person of interest’who was seen following the victim on the night of the attack.
