DRPS Homicide investigators were called out to a scene in Pickering after human remains were discovered on the shoreline of Lake Ontario near the waterfront trail.
On Thursday, August 7, at approximately 3:30 pm, members of West Division were called to the area of Frisco Road and Montgomery Park Road in Pickering after a citizen located human remains in the waters of Lake Ontario. Forensic Investigators were called to assist and a post-mortem will be conducted to determine more details about the deceased, said a police statement.
The remains are that of a male newborn baby. Investigators also have concerns for the health and wellbeing of the infant’s mother and are urging her to seek medical assistance and contact police to ensure that she is safe.
Police are urging any witnesses who may have information to assist investigators to come forward. Members of our Public Safety Unit will be attending the scene to search for any evidence in this matter.
