Shell casing confirms early Friday shooting

Durham police are investigating shots being fired after evidence was located on Friday morning in Pickering.

On July 17 at about 12:40 am, members of West Division were called to the area of Spruce Hill Drive and Finch Avenue in Pickering for reports of shots fired. Officers responded to the area and were able to confirm that shots were fired after finding a shell casing nearby, said a police statement.

There have been no reported injuries as a result of the incident. Police searched the area with the assistance of K-9 with negative results.

There is no suspect or vehicle descriptors at this time and investigators are looking for the public’s help with any information regarding this shooting. If you have surveillance video in this area, please contact our investigators.
