Following is the Thanksgiving holiday schedule for Oshawa and Whitby.
Service Oshawa & City Hall: Service Oshawa will be closed on Monday, October 14 for Thanksgiving. Customer Service Representatives will be on hand at Service Oshawa Saturday, October 12 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Service Oshawa can be reached by phone at 905-436-3311 or by email.
Oshawa Waste Services: There will be no waste collection service on Thanksgiving, Monday, October 14. For the remainder of the week following the holiday, waste collection will occur one day later than regular collection service. To avoid being missed, place waste at the curb no later than 7:00 am. the day of collection on clear portions of your driveway. Oshawa Recreation Facilities and Fitness Centres: Recreation facilities will be operating on a holiday schedule on Thanksgiving, offering modified schedules for leisure skating, swimming, and drop-in sports. For additional details, visit the Recreation Facility Status webpage.
On Monday, October 14:
- Delpark Homes Centre will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Delpark Homes Centre arenas will be open for evening ice rentals.
- Children’s Arena will be open for evening floor rentals.
- Harman Park Arena will be open for evening ice rentals.
- Donevan Recreation Complex will be open for evening ice rentals only.
All other recreation facilities will be closed and recreation programs (e.g. swimming lessons) will be cancelled.
Whitby Thanksgiving holiday schedule
Due to Thanksgiving, Town Hall closed at 4:30 pm on Friday and will reopen at 8:30 am on Tuesday, October 15. The McKinney Centre, Luther Vipond Memorial Arena, Whitby Civic Recreation Complex and Iroquois Park Sports Centre (including Anne Ottenbrite Pool) will also be closed on Monday, October 14.
Additionally, the Whitby Seniors’ Activity Centre will be closed from Saturday, October 12 to Monday, October 14. The Brooklin Community Centre and Library will be closed from Sunday, October 13 to Monday, October 14, re-opening on Tuesday, October 15.

Whitby Public Library: The Central Library and Brooklin Branch will be closed Sunday, October 13 to Monday, October 14. Visit whitbylibrary.ca for access to digital content and program information.
Waste Collection: There will be no waste collection services on Monday, October 14. For the week of October 14, garbage and green bin collection has been moved forward one day after your regular pick up day.
