Pickering Council has referred back to staff a request to create a paid parking lot at 920 Liverpool Road.
Any decision on this matter will likely be made in 2027, said a city official.
There were amendments that would be required only if the recommendations in the report to committee were approved. “As committee referred the matter back to staff for further consideration, no paid parking has been implemented at this time, and the amendments are not in effect,” the official clarified.
The draft amendments to Fees and Charges By-law No. 6191/03 called to implement a fee of $1.50 per hour. As well as, that the appropriate officials of the City of Pickering be authorized to take the actions necessary to implement their recommendations.
The municipal parking lot is adjacent to the East Shore Community Centre but it is not required by the facility as overflow parking, said a city announcement.
