Thief caught while loading hardware store loot into a van

A male is facing charges after he broke into a hardware store in Bowmanville.

On Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at about 12:25 am, members of East Division responded to a break-and-enter in progress at the Peavey Mart, located at 95 Baseline Road.

A male broke into the rear of the business and loaded stolen items into a nearby van. Police arrived on scene and took the male into custody without incident. It was later determined that the licence plates on the suspect van were stolen, police said.

The man, age 43 from Bright was charged and released on an undertaking. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
