This van driver got a $2,000 fine + 6 demerit points

Vans are generally not considered as the fastest things on our roadways, but it looks as if this driver tried to prove they’re as good on the asphalt as any sportscar.

Unfortunately, the speedster was noticed by the stalwarts of Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) East Division and stopped on Trulls and Pebblestone roads in Courtice, in the Municipality of Clarington.

The ‘stunting’ driver was caught doing 112kmh in a posted 60kmh zone.

Police issued a fine of $2000, 6 demerit points, 30-day licence suspension and a 14-day vehicle impound.

Double the Speed Limit

The van driver was not the only speedster caught on Durham roads.

West Division DRPS observed a driver travelling at almost double the 60kmh speed limit in Ajax. The car was impounded, license suspended and the motorist (image below) was charged with Stunt Driving.

“Road safety is everyone’s responsibility. Let’s ensure Durham remains the best community to live, work and play!” said a police alert.
