Three firefighters hurt in Scugog home blast

Three firefighters were hurt when a home they were tending to witnessed an explosion, police and fire officials said yesterday.

Scugog Fire & Emergency Services responded to a house fire and subsequent explosion during the fire at a home on Fralicks Beach Road, said a tweet from the Township of Scugog.

Residents were thankfully not at home. At this time, 3 firefighters are being assessed for what is believed to be minor injuries, added the tweet.

Portion of Fralicks Beach Road, off of Island Road was closed due to emergency response for the house fire. Residents are asked to stay clear of the area.

Fralick’s Beach Road was closed from 455m north of Pogue Road to 80m southwest of Hood Drive.

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) members from the North Division assisted Scugog Fire with road closures after the house fire.
