Three people have been arrested following a home invasion in Oshawa, police said.
On Saturday, January 8 at approximately 4 am, three suspects forcefully entered a residence on Highland Avenue armed with a firearm and knife. The suspects stole personal items, including a vehicle, from the residence. One the victims was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, said a police statement.
Investigators were able to locate the three suspects a short time later and place them under arrest. A search warrant was conducted on Phillip Murray Avenue in relation to this incident.
Cheyeanne Hayden, age 33 of NFA, has been charged with: Robbery with a Weapon; Theft of Motor Vehicle; Theft Under $5,000; Use of Firearm in the Commission of an Offence; Break and Enter; and Fail to Comply with an Undertaking.
David Vanderwerf, age 34 of Phillip Murray Avenue, has been charged with: Robbery with a Weapon; Theft of Motor Vehicle; Theft Under $5,000; Use of Firearm in the Commission of an Offence; Break and Enter; Fail to Comply with a Release Order and Fail to Comply with a Probation Order x4.
Blaine Smith, age 40 of NFA, Robbery with a Weapon x2; Theft of Motor Vehicle; Theft Under $5,000; Use of Firearm in the Commission of an Offence; Break and Enter; Assault with a Weapon x2 and Possess Weapon for Committing an Offence x2;
All were held for bail hearings.
The investigation is ongoing and investigators continue to look for other involved suspects.
