Three seriously injured in two-vehicle crash

Three residents of Keswick received serious but non-life threatening injuries as a result of a motor vehicle collision near Claremont on Monday evening, police said.

On June 15 at about 7:20 pm, officers from the West Division were called to a serious motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles at the intersection of Brock Road and Pickering Concession Road 9 near Claremont.

A black Honda Civic was travelling east on Pickering Concession Road 9 while a silver Kia Rio was travelling north on Brock Road. The collision occurred within the intersection.

A 31-year-old male from Oshawa, the driver of the black Honda Civic, was assessed, treated and released at the scene of the collision.

There were three occupants in the silver Kia Rio at the time of the collision. Two were transported to local hospitals for treatment. The third, a 75-year-old female, was transported to a Toronto trauma centre. The two occupants transported to local hospitals received serious but non-life threatening injuries and are in stable condition. The female transported to the Toronto Trauma Centre received more serious injuries requiring surgery, police said.

Members of the DRPS – Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected. Police are still investigating the cause of the collision.
