3 teens drive stolen car into ditch, PSDs find two

Investigators are asking the public to help identify the third suspect after two teenagers were caught breaking into vehicles on a Whitby Street on Wednesday.

On August 21 at 2:40 am, Central West Division officers were called to the area of Mandy Court in Whitby regarding three males breaking into vehicles along the street. The males were associated with a four-door white Honda vehicle.

Responding officers located the suspect vehicle on Bradley Drive as it was leaving the area. The officers attempted to stop the vehicle, which failed to stop. A pursuit was initiated and the vehicle lost control and went into a ditch at the corner of Rossland Road and Lakeridge Road. The vehicle sustained damage and three male suspects fled on foot in a field south of Rossland Road.

Two K-9 teams assisted responding officers in trying to locate the suspects in the dark. The first male was tracked through cornfields by Police Service Dog (PSD) Klutch and was arrested without incident. The second male was tracked approximately nine kilometers by PSD Taz and was arrested while concealing himself in heavy brush.

Mory Kone, age 18, of Lawrence Avenue East in Toronto has been charged with Flight from Police, Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance, Possession of Stolen Property over $5000 and Trespass at Night. A 17-year-old male from Toronto has been charged with Possession of Stolen Property Over $5,000 and Trespass at Night.

Both were later released on a Promise to Appear form.

The third suspect was not found. He is described as a male, black, 15-17 years old, wearing all black clothing. Some of the items stolen from parked vehicles were recovered.
