Traffic stop leads to loaded gun and drugs

Durham police said a 19-year-old male was arrested for drugs after a traffic stop in Oshawa, which then led to the discovery of a loaded handgun and ammunition.

On  April 18 at around 7:45 pm, a member of Central West Division stopped a silver Volkswagen near Park Road and Bloor Street in Oshawa. A quantity of cocaine was observed in the vehicle and the driver was arrested. During the investigation, officers located a loaded handgun, ammunition and seized approximately $10,000 of cocaine from the vehicle, police said.

Farhan Ameen, age 19, of Venus Crescent in Oshawa is facing 13 charges including: Careless Storage of a Firearm; Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm; Possession of a Loaded Firearm; Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm; Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine) and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000. He was held for a bail hearing.
