Machete-wielding Ajax teen robber caught

Durham police investigators were able to identify and arrest a 39-year-old male suspect for a drug store robbery from early February.

On Wednesday, April 15, members of the DRPS Robbery Unit went to an address in Oshawa and arrested Jeffery Riddell, of Mary Street, Oshawa. He was charged with: Robbery, Wear Disguise, Weapons Dangerous and Fail to Comply with Probation. He was held for a bail hearing, police said.

They also reported that a 15-year-old male has been arrested for an April 11, armed robbery of an Ajax convenience store.

On April 18, members of the Robbery Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in Ajax and arrested the 15-year-old male suspect, without incident. Officers located and seized a large machete at the residence.

The 15-year-old Ajax male is charged with: Robbery, Wear Disguise; Weapons Dangerous and Breach Recognizance. He was held for a bail hearing.
