Traffic stop nets 4 with loaded gun and drugs

Four suspects were arrested on Wednesday after a traffic stop in Pickering led to the discovery of a loaded handgun and drugs, police said.

On February 5 at about 2:30 am, members of West Division stopped a blue Hyundai after the vehicle was seen swerving on the roadway and striking the curb. The vehicle was stopped near Valley Farm Road and Bloomfield Court in Pickering, said a police media release.

Officers conducted further investigation under the Cannabis Act. During the investigation, officers located a loaded handgun and a quantity of cannabis, cocaine and crack cocaine, which was seized, it added.

Brittney Lewis, age 23, of Eyer Drive in Pickering, Devante Long, age 25, of Bloomfield Court in Pickering, Nikeita Forbes, age 28, of Cranston Avenue in Ajax, Jay Alexander, age 19 of Sheppard Avenue in Toronto face a combined 42 charges including: Careless Storage of a Firearm; Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm; Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device; Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle; Loaded Prohibited Firearm; Possession of Controlled Substance(cocaine,crack-cocaine) and Tampering with Serial Number. They were all held for bail hearings.
