Traffic Update: Don’t cycle on sidewalks, Taunton closure

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday reminded cyclists not to use the sidewalks in the downtown areas of Oshawa.

“If you are riding your bicycle downtown in the City of Oshawa, please do not use the sidewalks,” said an advisory from DRPS Central East Division.

“Motorist and pedestrians be on the lookout for bicyclists, and please share the road,” it added.

Taunton Closure

Part of Taunton Road had to be closed off yesterday for a collision investigation, according to DRPS Traffic Services.

Bravo Team and Collision Investigation Unit are on scene at Taunton Road and Northbrook Street in the City of Oshawa for a motor vehicle collision, said a tweet.

Road closed for investigation it added.

DRPS later said Taunton Road West between Stevenson Road North and Somerville Street was open.
