Two held, 241 tickets, 7 suspensions in back-to-school week

Durham Police’s North Division Officers have issued 241 tickets, made two arrests, issued 30 cautions, charged seven suspended drivers and impounded three vehicles this week as part of its back-to-school ‘In the Zone’ traffic safety initiative.

North Division officers continued the traffic safety initiative in an around school zones in the townships of Brock, Scugog and Uxbridge.

On Thursday, community officers in North Division dedicated their day reminding drivers to be handsfree with their cell phones. Officers were happy to report only one violation was observed.

Meanwhile, they charged the driver of the vehicle below for heavy window tint.

No person shall drive a vehicle if the windshield or windows to the left or right of the driver’s seat are coated with any material that significantly obscures the interior visibility from outside, police said.
