Durham Regional Police are searching for a suspect in connection with two violent sexual assaults reported in Oshawa and Ajax.
According to police, the first incident occurred on Wednesday, January 8, at about 11:05 pm Officers from Central East Division responded to reports of a sexual assault at an apartment complex near St. Lawrence Street and Simcoe Street South in Oshawa.
Investigators stated that a male suspect, armed with a knife, sexually assaulted a female in the building’s lobby. Both the suspect and the victim left the scene before police arrived. Officers later located the victim nearby, who was suffering from serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
The second incident reportedly took place the following day, Thursday, January 9, at about 1:10 pm, when the suspect was seen in the area of Harwood Avenue South and Hunt Street in Ajax. Police believe he sexually assaulted a second victim during this time.
Police have identified the suspect as a 28-year-old male of no fixed address. He is wanted for Robbery, Sexual Assault, and Assault Cause Bodily Harm.
He is described as White, about 25-30 years old, with a heavy build and blonde/orange hair. The name and photograph of the suspect has been released and is available on the Durham Regional Police Service website at www.drps.ca.
Police have issued a public safety warning, urging anyone who sees the suspect not to approach him and to call 911 immediately.
