SUV driver hits elderly female pedestrian and takes off

Durham Police are asking for the public’s assistance after a vehicle struck a pedestrian and fled the area in Whitby.

On Friday, November 29 between 2:55 – 3:10 pm, an elderly female was crossing the roadway at Micklefield Avenue and Hayeraft Street, in Whitby, when a dark coloured Jeep SUV struck her.

The vehicle did not stop and fled the area. The elderly female suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local-area hospital, police said.
