Ontario Government yesterday announced it is investing $278,312 in Ajax to support housing and infrastructure growth.
The funding will support the rehabilitation of the Nottingham South (Bradbury) Pond on Rossland Road, east of Westney Road. This stormwater management upgrade is essential for supporting community growth and ensuring the town’s infrastructure can accommodate the increasing demand for housing.
“The province’s investment in Ajax and the Durham Region will provide critical upgrades to stormwater management, ensuring we have the right infrastructure in place to support the growth of our community,” said Patrice Barnes, Member of Provincial Parliament for Ajax.
Minister of Infrastructure Kinga Surma emphasized the critical connection between housing and infrastructure, stating, “Homes can’t be built without connections to drinking water and wastewater. By investing in drinking water and wastewater treatment facilities, we are helping municipalities build more homes.”
Ajax Mayor Shaun Collier expressed gratitude for the provincial funding, stating, “Stormwater ponds are important to protecting neighbourhoods and greenspaces from flooding. This investment will not only bring Nottingham South Pond into conformity but also support new housing units in our community.”
