Two killed in two separate crashes this Wednesday

Durham police yesterday reported the deaths of tow persons in two separate collisions in Durham.

Police said a man died after a single vehicle collision in Uxbridge. In another collision in Pickering, one man died and a woman remains in critical condition.

On Wednesday, January 28, around 6:35 pm, members of North Division responded to a single vehicle collision in the area of Regional Road 1 south of Foster Drive in Uxbridge.

A Subaru SUV being driven by a 41-year-old man from Uxbridge, was traveling northbound on Regional Road 1 when it went off the roadway into a snowbank and struck a tree. It is believed the driver suffered a medical episode resulting in the collision.

The driver was transported to a local-area hospital where they were pronounced deceased, police said.

Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene and investigated the circumstances of the incident. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected. This collision is still under investigation.

Pickering Crash

On Wednesday, January 28, around 7:10 am, members of West Division responded to a collision in the area of Kingston Road and Merritton Road.

A Toyota sedan was traveling westbound on Kingston Road when it crossed into the oncoming lanes and collided head-on with a Subaru SUV traveling eastbound.

The 57-year-old male driver of the Toyota was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre where he has since succumbed to his injuries.

The 67-year-old female passenger of the Subaru was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre with life threatening injuries where she remains in critical condition. The 68 -year-old male driver of the Subaru was transported to a local-area hospital with minor injuries.

Members of the DRPS – Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation into the circumstances of the incident. The roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
