A woman, who was forcibly confined in an Oshawa apartment for several days, managed to find a phone and call for rescue.
One of her kidnappers has been charged with sexual assault, according to a Durham Police statement.
She is safe, said police, who arrested three people and found a quantity of drugs in the apartment.
Between Friday, August 2 and Monday, August 5, the victim was forced to stay at one of the suspect’s apartment in a room against her will. The apartment was on Simcoe Street North in Oshawa. The victim was able to get a cell phone on Monday and she reached out to a friend for help.
Police were able to identify the location and gained entry to the apartment. The victim was taken to a local hospital to be examined. Three suspects were arrested inside.
Investigators executed a search warrant on the apartment and seized drugs, and cash worth approximately $32,500.
One person from City of Kawarthas is charged with: Sexual Assault; Forcible Confinement; Fail to Comply; Possess Schedule I Substance (Cocaine); Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking x2 (Methamphetamine, Cocaine); Possess Cannabis for The Purpose of Selling x2 and Possess Proceeds Obtained by Crime.
Two from Oshawa are charged with: Forcible Confinement; Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking x2 (Methamphetamine, Cocaine); Possess Cannabis for The Purpose of Selling x2 and Possess Proceeds Obtained by Crime.
They were all held for a bail hearing.
