Work starts on Ajax GO station improvements

Metrolinx, the operator of GO Transit, has announced it is updating amenities, enhancing accessibility, and making it easier to access GO services.

As of April 27, work started on platform construction at the station, which has resulted in some changes to the way commuters get on the GO, said a Metrolinx statement.

At Ajax GO:

  • The west side of the platform will be closed for the installation of tactile yellow tiles and new digital signs.
  • Board and exit train from the east side of the platform until further notice.
  • Look for signs to show where to wait on the platform.
  • All pedestrian tunnels will remain open during construction.
  • Social distancing measures are still in effect, so remember to spread out along the platform and board all available coach doors to keep trains on schedule.

At Union Station:

  • Listen to the announcements. Not all coaches will open at your station.
  • If you are unsure, ask the customer service ambassador in the accessible coach for assistance.

Remember to give yourself extra time to get to where you’re going during construction.

Metrolinx said the GO expansion will increase the frequency and number of GO trains across the network, reduce congestion and connect a growing region with fast, reliable transit options.
