$15,000 reward for information on Nigris murder

Durham Regional Crime Stoppers is now offering a $15,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of those responsible for the murder of 30-year-old Michael Nigris of Oshawa.

In 2024, investigators hosted a press conference where photos and detailed descriptions of the suspects were publicly released in an effort to generate new information. Since that time, the investigation has remained active and ongoing, with detectives continuing to pursue all available investigative avenues, police said.

The motive for the murder was not revealed, and no suspects have been arrested as yet.

On Thursday, March 30, 2023, at around 8:25 pm, members of Central East Division were called to a parking lot near King Street West and Park Road in Oshawa for a male who had been shot.  Life-saving measures were performed; however, the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Members of the Homicide Unit have conducted an extensive and thorough investigation. Hundreds of hours of video have been reviewed, witnesses have been interviewed, and multiple investigative avenues have been pursued, police said.

Two Suspects

The suspect responsible for the shooting fled in a stolen black Ford F150 Raptor that was subsequently recovered shortly after on Dundee Avenue in Oshawa. Both Air1 and K9 attended the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

The second suspect has ties to the stolen Ford F150 Raptor. Both suspects have been linked to the Lawrence Avenue West and Keele Street area in Toronto, police said.

The first suspect is described as: man, Black, wearing a black surgical mask, dark hooded sweatshirt with a Puma emblem on the front, black Puma jogging pants, and black Air Force One running shoes.

The second suspect is described as: man, Black, with short dreadlock style hair.  He was wearing glasses, a black hooded sweatshirt with ‘Champion’ written in white on the front, black pants, and black running shoes.
