Second case of slashing in weeks at Ajax faith centre

Durham police said a man is facing charges after assaulting another man with a knife in Ajax.

This is the second case of stabbing at the Christian Faith Outreach Centre. the previous one was on February 20 (see below).

On Monday, March 9, around 6:40 pm, members of West Division responded to an armed person call at the Christian Faith Outreach Centre located at 125 Commercial Avenue.

Two males were involved in an altercation when one of the males brandished a knife and slashed the other. The suspect fled the area prior to police arrival. A short time later the suspect was located and taken into custody without incident.

The victim was transported to a local-area hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

At the time of his arrest, the man was already under a court order that prohibited him from possessing weapons, police said.

The 60-year old suspect from Whitby was held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
