No new covid deaths three days in a row

Durham Health reported 144 new Covid-19 cases for December 24 and 25 bringing the region’s tally to 6,796 since the count began on February 29. Another 129 cases are under investigation.

Recoveries stand at 5,636, up by 109. There were 923 active covid cases.

According to Durham Health, there were:

  • 28 new cases in Ajax.
  • 21 in Pickering,
  • 16 in Whitby,
  • 21 in Oshawa,
  • 11 in Clarington,
  • 5 in Uxbridge, and
  • One in Brock

Twenty-seven cases are hospitalized with seven in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 896 people in home isolation.

Durham Health reported the highest number of cases so far at 1,947 in Ajax.

Death Toll:

Of the 90 reported deaths in Pickering, 86 were in LTCH
Of the 42 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTCH
Thirty-four deaths were reported in Whitby, 29 in LTCH
Of the 42 reported deaths in Oshawa, 33 were in LTCH
Eight deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTCH]
21 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTCH
No deaths have been reported in Scugog
No deaths have been reported in Brock
