23-year old woman pedestrian fighting for life after being hit

Durham Police said a 23-year-old female has life-threatening injuries after she was struck by a vehicle.

On Saturday, September 7 at about 6:20 am, members from Central West Division responded to a female being struck by a vehicle at Consumer Drive just east of Paisley Court in Whitby.

A 23-year-old female had just exited a bus and was crossing the street when she was struck by a vehicle, which is believed to have run a red light. The vehicle that struck the female fled the scene and was last seen westbound on Victoria Street West from Brock Street South, said the police.

The female pedestrian was transported to a Toronto-area trauma hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Investigators are looking for a 2010 four-door silver Jaguar XF with possible damage to the front passenger-side corner.

Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The roads in the area were closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
