$25,000+ in drugs seized in ‘routine’ traffic stop

A routine traffic stop in Oshawa on Friday resulted in the seizure of more than $25,000 worth of cocaine, according to Durham Police.

Yesterday, at 1:55 am, officers observed a vehicle travelling on Taunton Road approaching Thornton Road in Oshawa with no rear lights. While talking to the driver, an officer observed a plastic container of marihuana near the driver. Drug paraphernalia and a large quantity of cocaine was located in the trunk.

The value of the cocaine is estimated at $25,500 and the marihuana had a street value of about $180. The male was arrested and charged.

Andrew McLean, age 46, of Stevenson Road North in Oshawa is charged with: Possess for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine); Drive Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available; and Drive Vehicle Without Lights. He was held for a bail hearing.
