53 recover from covid in Durham, 38 new cases

Durham Health yesterday posted 38 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the total to 3,291 since the count began on February 29. It appears four missing cases have been added to the total.

Recoveries tally 2,873, up by 53.

  • Thirteen new cases were reported in Ajax
  • Eight each in Oshawa and Clarington
  • Seven in Pickering
  • Five in Whitby, and
  • One in Uxbridge

Eleven cases are hospitalized with four in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 225 people in home isolation.

One new covid-related death was announced for October 15 in Durham. Previous death was announced on July 9.

Deaths so far total 182, of which 153 were in long term care homes (LTCH).

Durham Health reported the highest number of cases so far at 986 in Ajax, followed by 914 in Pickering and 544 in Oshawa.

Death Toll: No new death

Of the 89 reported deaths in Pickering, 86 were in LTCH
Of the 38 reported deaths in Ajax, 32 were in LTCH
Four deaths were reported in Whitby [none in LTCH]
Of the 23 reported deaths in Oshawa, 15 were in LTCH
Seven deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTCH]
21 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTCH
No deaths have been reported in Scugog
No deaths have been reported in Brock
