$3mn Orono Arena renovation to extend its life by 15 years

The Municipality of Clarington yesterday said construction at Orono Arena is underway to complete necessary upgrades. These are projected to extend the arena’s lifespan by another 15 years.

The $3 million renovation project includes replacing the refrigerated floor under the ice pad, upgrading the changing rooms and shower areas, and replacing the rubber flooring throughout the arena. The ice pad will also see new rink boards and a heated penalty box, said a municipal statement.

The arena is expected to reopen in September. The upstairs multi-purpose room will remain open and available to rent throughout the renovation.
