9- and 12-year olds girls stable after being hit by SUV

Durham Police said on Friday, November 22, at about 6:05 pm, members of West Division responded to a collision involving a vehicle and two young pedestrians on Williamson Drive, just west of Seggar Avenue, in Ajax.

A grey Honda SUV was heading westbound on Williamson Drive when it struck the young pedestrians who were crossing the roadway.

A 9-year-old girl was seriously injured and taken to a Toronto-area trauma centre by ambulance in critical but stable condition. A 12-year-old girl was seriously injured and also taken to a Toronto-area trauma centre by ambulance in serious but stable condition, police said.

The 44-year-old male driver of the grey Honda SUV remained on scene and cooperated with police. The male did not sustain any injuries.

Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The roads in the area were closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
