Durham to fund five youth violence prevention initiatives

Durham Region anounced local organizations have received funding through the Community Safety and Well-being (CSWB) Fund. This investment aims to address youth violence and promote positive youth and community development.

The CSWB Fund supports the development of community-based violence prevention and intervention initiatives. Durham Region’s funding program supports the CSWB Plan which aims to support safety in communities and addresses needs related to education, health care, food, housing, income and cultural expression.

The CSWB Fund will support multiple organizations and community groups in Durham Region, including:

“The CSWB Fund is a crucial resource that fosters safer communities while helping to address and prevent youth violence in Durham Region,” said Allison Hector-Alexander, Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. “We are thrilled to be working with organizations and community groups to provide mentorship and youth development opportunities in our community. This collaborative effort will undoubtedly result in positive, long-term impacts.”
