The GO bus service to Durham College and Ontario Tech University as well as Trent University is set to resume from Saturday, September 5, according to Metrolinx.
Provincial Crown Corporation, Metrolinx, is the operator of GO Transit (which includes GO train and GO bus), the Presto card system and UP Express.
Durham College & Ontario Tech University
GO bus service to Durham College will be reinstated starting on Saturday, September 5, including:
- Route 52 – Oshawa/Hwy 407 Bus Terminal
- Route 52A – Durham College/Hwy 407 Bus Terminal
- Route 56 – Oshawa/Oakville
- Route 56A – Oshawa/Square one
The closest stop is Durham College Campus/ Ontario Tech University.
Trent University
GO bus service to Trent University will be reinstated also starting Saturday, September 5, including:
- Route 88 – Peterborough/Oshawa
- Route 88B – Peterborough/Oshawa via Courtice @ Baseline
- Route 88C – Peterborough/Oshawa Express
The closest stop is Trent University.
Metrolinx is advising customers of minor scheduling changes made to these routes to better reflect travel times and provide a more reliable service. For exact trip departure and arrival times, it is encouraging people to check schedules in advance on the GO transit website and plan their trip ahead of time.
Free Transfers
Riders can transfer for free with one fare between GO transit and local transit agencies, including: Durham Region Transit, Milton Transit, Grand River Transit, Guelph Transit, Oakville Transit, MiWay, Brampton Transit, Hamilton Street Railway (HSR), Burlington Transit, Bradford West Gwillimbury Transit, York Region Transit (YRT), Peel Region’s TransHelp and the TTC.
Students can save using Presto
Metrolinx adds, all youth and teens aged 13-19, regardless of school status, save 40 per cent on GO with Presto. They just have to show a Canadian school-issued ID or government-issued photo ID at Union Station or a customer service outlet to set up the youth fare on a presto digital or physical card.
Students between the ages of 20 and 64 may be eligible for a post-secondary fare type. If they are a full-time student attending an approved post-secondary institution in Ontario, they can receive discounts on GO transit and UP Express. To get these savings, students can apply online for a GO transit student ID.
