Online dating app led her into prostitution

A male has been arrested in a human trafficking investigation and investigators want to ensure there are no further victims.

On Tuesday, April 27, 2021, a 27-year-old female came forward stating the accused recruited her from an online dating app. The suspect forced her into the sex trade industry and exploited her across the Greater Toronto Area.

On May 3, 2021, the suspect was arrested by the Offender Management Unit and he is facing numerous human trafficking charges.

Mathewos TADESSE, age 25, of Woodbridge, is charged with Advertising Sexual Services; Obtaining Sexual Services for Consideration; Material Benefit from Sexual Services; Trafficking in Persons by Exercising Control; Financial Benefit Trafficking Person; Procuring/Exercise Control of Person to Provide Sexual Services; Sexual Assault with Choking and Fail to Comply with Release Order. He was held for a bail hearing.
