DRPS thwarts fourth excess weed farm operation

Three suspects are facing charges following a Cannabis grow operation investigation in Newtonville.

Investigators from the Drug Enforcement Unit commenced an investigation in relation to a property located on Lakeshore Road. It was determined that four licenses had been issued for plants to be grown indoors at this location.

Following the execution of a search warrant, officers located an outdoor grow-op much larger than the licenses permitted. Approximately 1,024 plants were seized.

Hui Chen, age 52, Jin Chen, age 59, both of Clarington and Wen Zheng, age 63, of Markham are charged with: Unauthorized Possession of Cannabis and Cultivate Not in Dwelling House under the Cannabis Act. They were released on Undertakings.

Charges Laid in Goodwood Grow Operation

One male is facing charges following a Cannabis grow operation investigation in Goodwood.

Investigators from the Drug Enforcement Unit commenced an investigation in relation to a property located on Concession Road 4, in Goodwood. It was determined that four licenses had been issued for plants to be grown indoors at this location.

Following the execution of a warrant, officers located an outdoor grow-op. Approximately 274 plants were seized, as well as more than 8 pounds of dried cannabis that were packaged for shipping.

Lam Le, age 49, of Toronto, is charged with: Unauthorized Production of Cannabis and Unauthorized Possession of Cannabis under the Cannabis Act. He was released on an Undertaking.
