Tarp couldn’t hide copper thief from Klutch’s clutches

A 38-year-old man faces numerous charges after breaking into an Oshawa hydro sub-station, stealing copper and fleeing from police overnight.

On Thursday, August 19, at about 12:20 am, members of Central West Division were called to the area of Thornton Road South for reports of a break-and-enter. The suspect was observed breaking into the fenced area, stealing copper wire before fleeing on foot.

With the assistance of our K-9 Unit, Police Service Dog Klutch and his handler tracked the suspect southwest to find him hidden under a tarp in the forest. The male was taken into custody without incident.
