Durham Police investigators have determined that a 20-year-old male who reported being robbed in Pickering last week made a false report.
The male told police that on Tuesday, August 20 at 12:05 am, he was walking on Fieldlight Boulevard in Pickering and was approached by two masked males, one armed with a handgun, who robbed him of his personal belongings. He also reported that money had been withdrawn from his bank account.
Police have now discovered that this did not occur and have charged the male accordingly. It is believed the accused conspired with two other males to defraud his bank.
