Trail works in Ajax, Clarington with temporary closures

Ajax and Clarington have both announced temporary trail closures to complete rehabilitation work.

In Ajax, trail work at Hermitage Park East is scheduled to begin on July 11, within the woodlot east of the basketball court to Griffiths Drive. According to the town, the following amenities will be closed during construction:

  • Pedestrian access at Wickens Crescent and Griffiths Drive
  • East Playground
  • Washroom building

The parking lot and tennis courts will remain open, and construction is expected to be completed by August 29. “We apologize for any inconvenience,” the Town of Ajax stated.

Clarington Waterfront Trail

In Clarington, a section of the Waterfront Trail in Bowmanville is temporarily closed for repairs. The project involves asphalt replacement from Bowmanville Avenue to 50 metres west of Bowmanville Avenue. Work began on June 19 and was expected to take about two weeks, weather permitting.

“Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to maintain our trails,” the Municipality of Clarington stated. “Work like this helps keep our community active, engaged and connected.”

Clarington notes it offers more than 20 kilometres of off-road recreational trails. For more information, visit www.clarington.net/trails.
