Durham police have arrested a 19-year-old male after he allegedly attempted to break into a residence in Courtice in the Municipality of Clarington.
According to police, members of East Division responded to a suspicious person call on Friday, June 20, at about 10:20 am in the area of Solina Road and Baseline Road West. The homeowner reported that an unknown male was on her property and trying to break into her home. When she yelled, the suspect fled before officers arrived.
Police say a perimeter was quickly set up, and with the help of the DRPS K9 and drone units, the suspect was found hiding in bushes in a nearby greenspace. The drone operator guided officers to the location, and the suspect was arrested without incident.

A 19-year-old male, of Oshawa, was charged. Police did not say whether the suspect was held for bail or released for an undertaking.
