Man shot and killed at Ajax GO lot; suspect still at large

Durham police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred at the Ajax GO station on Sunday night, marking the region’s fourth homicide of the year.

All three previous murders have taken place next door in Pickering (see below).

According to Durham Regional Police, officers from West Division responded to an assist ambulance call at about 11:30 pm on June 22 at the GO lot located at 110 Westney Road. When officers arrived, they found an unconscious man suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victim was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre but later died from his injuries.

Police say an outstanding suspect is still being sought, and investigators are appealing to the public for any video footage that may assist with the case. In particular, they are asking for dashcam or surveillance video recorded between 9 pm and 10 pm, which is believed to be the timeframe of the shooting.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Hollister of the Homicide Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5414.
