Oshawa e-bike rider seriously injured in hit-and-run

Durham police say an e-bike rider was seriously injured following a hit-and-run collision in Oshawa on Sunday night.

Officers from Central East Division responded to the crash at the intersection of Sommerville Street and Taunton Road West around 10 pm on August 3. According to police, an e-bike was travelling northbound on Sommerville when it was struck by a van heading east on Taunton. The driver of the van did not remain at the scene and continued eastbound.

The e-bike rider was taken to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious injuries.

Police say the driver of the van was later located at a residence in Oshawa and arrested without incident.

A 30-year-old man of Oshawa was charged. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
