There are fast learners – and then are slow learners, and it is the destiny of Durham traffic officers to some times have deja vu experiences.
Take this driver (top image) for example. North Division officers stopped the same vehicle twice in two weeks, for the same Highway Traffic Act (HTA) offences.
Charges included:
🚫 2× Use plate not authorized
🪪 2× Fail to apply for permit
💸 2× No insurance
Police did not provide any further details of this week’s incident.
See Tractor-Trailer Roll-over
North Division also posted a video (below) of a transport driver with a fully-loaded trailer approaching stopped vehicles.
On turning left, the trucker lost control, attempted to pass on the soft gravel shoulder, and tipped into the ditch!
“Please pay attention and drive carefully,” police said.
Can A Tow Truck Take A Passenger?
East Division officers at Colin Road and Simcoe Street North in Oshawa, caught a tow truck 9image below) with a passenger.
The tow truck driver was charged under the Towing and Storage Safety and Enforcement Act for transporting a passenger that was not documented. Fine under the act is $365.
Stunt Driving
North Division reported a stunt driver (image below) this week doing almost 70 kmh over the limit.
The motorist was clocked driving at 148 kmh in an 80-zone.
Their driving licence suspended 30 days and the vehicle impounded for 14 days.
“68 over the limit puts everyone at risk. Slow down,” police said.
Truck Couldn’t Dodge Ram
North Division this week had to close off Goodwood Road between Uxbridge Concession 7 and Lake Ridge Road for a collision investigation (see below).
