A home in Whitby was not a safe place for the unfortunate owner who experienced a home invasion from six armed and masked men on Tuesday night.
On November 4 at about 2:50 am, members of Central West Division responded to a home invasion call at a residence in the area of Applewood Crescent and Applewood Avenue. Six masked suspects broke into a residence and assaulted the homeowner with a firearm, police said.
The suspects demanded car keys and took several items from the home before stealing the victim’s blue Ford Raptor Pick-up truck. The suspects also attempted to steal another vehicle from the victim’s garage, but were unsuccessful. The accused then fled in the stolen Ford Pick-up and a Jeep Grand Cherokee they had arrived in. The Jeep was determined to have been stolen from the Toronto area prior to this incident.
A short time later, officers located the Jeep Grand Cherokee abandoned on Highway 407. The Ford Raptor was recovered in Toronto. Officers, with the assistance of the K9 Unit, searched the area and located three suspects, who were taken into custody without incident. Three more suspects remain at large.
