Uxbridge proposes 1.28% rise in own portion of 2026 tax bill

The Uxbridge proposed 2026 budget will results in a 1.28 per cent increase for the township’s portion of the total tax bill, according to a draft budget report prepared by township staff.

The City of Oshawa has proposed a 4.68 per cent increase in its portion of the 2026 tax bill while the Town of Whitby has proposed a 3.99 tax increase (see below).

The Township of Uxbridge is growing and changing, and strategic community investments are required now to meet the future needs of this growing community, the report said.

It said the township’s 2026 capital budget is $20.9 million with a 10-year capital program (2026-2035) of $166.6 million.

For 2026, the net Uxbridge tax levy consists of a proposed base amount of $18,811,149 plus recommended key investments of $981,886 for a total proposed net tax levy of $19,793,035.

This increase provides an additional $363,000 for Capital Asset Reserve, bringing the total reserve contribution for 2026 to $2.9 million, ensuring long-term sustainability and continued investment in critical infrastructure.

It also includes an additional $658,390 for operating budgets, supporting labour agreements and essential services, while increasing township revenue projections by $39,504, the report said.
