Ready or not, winter is making its move. Durham residents should prepare for messy conditions as a low-pressure system is set to bring the first significant snowfall of the season this Sunday, November 9th.
Drivers and residents should take immediate steps to prepare for slick roads and upcoming seasonal parking bans, said an Environment Canada alert.
The Township of Scugog announced a Special Weather Statement as accumulating snow is expected throughout the day. Residents should be aware that the forecast calls for:
- Snowfall amounts ranging from 2 to 10 cm.
- Starting Sunday morning and continuing through Sunday evening.
⚠️ Critical Safety and Travel Alert
The accumulating snow will likely create difficult winter driving conditions. Motorists are strongly urged to be mindful of the conditions and adjust their travel plans accordingly, as poor weather conditions may contribute to transportation delays.
Immediate Action: The installation of winter tires should be seriously considered by motorists prior to Sunday’s snowfall to ensure maximum traction and safety.
