Pickering moves on Beachfront Park revitalization

Pickering Council has moved to advance phase 2 of the city’s Beachfront Park Revitalization, according to a city announcement.

This step moves Phase 2 closer to construction by advancing the washroom component to a fully tender-ready stage, including final design drawings, agency coordination, and required approvals.

Phase 2 also includes improvements to Millennium Square and the barrier beach area leading to Frenchman’s Bay, the announcement said.

It said funding for this work was approved through the 2026 Parks Capital Budget and is supported through established reserve funds. The investment amount was not released with the announcement.

Council approved retaining the MBTW Group to complete the detailed design and tender specifications for the renovation and expansion of the existing washroom building as part of Phase 2 of the Beachfront Park Revitalization Master Plan.

The project continues council’s investment in modernizing waterfront amenities while supporting environmental stewardship and accessible public spaces for the community, the announcement added.
